We've been talking "seasons" and viewed this little clip to understand them more. Your children wanted to see it over and over and over again . . . so I thought I'd share so you can do the honors.

Prancer

We had Prancer come and visit us on Wednesday.
Some of my favorite questions were:
"How does she fly?" "Does she know Rudolph?" and "Does she talk?"
We all learned a lot about reindeer Wednesday, including the fact that they are not embarassed to go to the bathroom in front of 47 Kindergartners.

I love Kindergarten drawings this time of year . . .

Native American Expert

I think I learned more in forty-five minutes listening to this man, than I have learned in all of my schooling about Native Americans.

This young man is the proud owner of this bow, given to him by his father. He hopes to use it one day, he says, when he's a little older.

This sweet girl has Native American blood, and she told me she loved learning of her culture (in Kindergarten words).

We all would have been asleep if he would have continued playing this flute any longer. Your children were mesmerized, as was I. Thank you Mr. Gilbert! (I would attempt to write your Cherokee name, but I wouldn't want to disgrace it!)

The "egg"speriment

Have you ever put an egg in vinegar for a couple of days, and waited for the result? That's what we're doing for our study of birds . . . Can anyone remember what the "scientific" name of the "white stuff" on the inside is? You may be interested to see if your child remembers.
Ask your child to describe what it now looks like . . . we're practicing using "description words" (and smells incidently).
Look what your lucky children got to eat this week for snack. If we are what we eat, then that explains some of our recent behavior in class . . .

The Happy Halloween

We had so much fun on Halloween. Luckily for us it fell on a Friday this year. I loved the costumes!!

Reading Buddies

Our third-grade reading buddies came to our morning class and read us halloween stories last week. We have buddies in our PM class too, and look forward to seeing them soon!
